The original LinkOpp.com was launched in February of 1998.
To our knowledge LinkOpp offered the first tiered link advertising system on the internet. LinkOpp members placed html code on their websites which generated a text-link box and this box displayed five other member links. The system was designed so the more members one referred to LinkOpp, the more traffic they would generate.
From 1998 to 2001 LinkOpp became an IBM strategic partner and worked with IBM to develop a wholesale ecommerce portal, but unfortunately the dot-com bust put those plans on indefinite hold.
The site has been in limbo since 2001 but 10 years later, I’ve put up a review blog for linking opportunities. The link building industry is vital to every single website owner as a way to drive traffic and increase search engine positioning.
