Hi! My name is Vlaiko* Boyadzhiev, originally from Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

I am currently working as a freelance translator & interpreter between Bulgarian & Norwegian – for the Norwegian Police, Immigration Authorities (UDI) & UNE among others, in addition to managing my own Oslo-based Translation & Interpreting Agency, Norsk Språkservice (NSS).

NSS I still kind of regard as the “offspring” of Institute 66, which I started back in 1990. The “parent” company, Institute 66 Language & Translation Center, was established as one of the first privately owned language schools in Bulgaria, with the heaviest emphasis on language training (despite the fair amount of translation work done): 9,000 course participants in the course of almost 9 years.

On the hobbies side, I am still completing a dictionary project on slang I started here at the University of Oslo, Norway

Here you can preview samples of my work, as well as order copies of the dictionary in electronic form (on a floppy disk or CD-ROM).

* Vlaiko  is incidentally now also the name of a microchip placed on board the US STARDUST research spacecraft.
